:: Welcome Letter ::

Since 1944, Fred Jordan Missions has worked on the streets of inner city Los Angeles and throughout the world to help share God's love by providing nourishing food, warm clothing, blankets and other vital services to people in need.

If you could walk these streets with me you would be alarmed that human beings have to go without the basic necessities of life, like adequate food and shelter.

After more than 50 years of working on Skid Row there's not a lot that shocks me. But there's still a lot that makes me despair.

It's still hard for me to handle watching a mother picking through a trash bin to find scraps of food for her child. And it still rips my heart out to hold a frightened little child who has been abused by those who should love her and protect her.

It's these scenes on Skid Row that drive me to use every ounce of energy I have to help feed and care for these precious ones, and try to rescue a whole generation of children on our streets who wouldn't have a hope in the world without the services we provide.

That's why you are so crucial to all we do. Your visit to this site …

Gives you a glimpse into the poverty, hopelessness and despair that imprison millions of American women and children

Provides you, your church, school, or business with an opportunity to do your vital part to help bring health, hope and healing to those who suffer.

The Fred Jordan Mission has been ministering to the needs of the homeless and hungry since 1944. But the truth is, we're really only extensions of the concerncare, and compassion of people just like you.

Because we must keep hope alive on Skid Row — and because the demands for food, and all the other services we provide continue to soar — I trust you will consider becoming one of our caring partners.

Your friendship and partnership will keep the flame of hope burning brightly for those who would otherwise face a very dismal future.

Proverbs 19:17 says that “He who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his good deed.”

I pray that God will repay you countless times over for the blessings that your good deeds bring to the poor, and for the encouragement your support brings to me.

Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who are in physical and spiritual distress. Welcome to a website that shows the need...and gives you a reason to respond with arms of love.

Your partner in caring,

President, Fred Jordan Missions
