Harvest 2011

Harvest Los Angeles Thank You

Thanks to Pastor Greg Laurie and his L.A. Harvest Team for conducting another Food Drive for homeless, hungry families and individuals on L.A.’s Skid Row and throughout the city!

Thanks to the many new friends we met when they brought food to the Mission’s Food Booth at the L.A. Harvest Crusade in Dodger Stadium!

Praise the Lord for the 50,000 Angelenos who filled Dodger Stadium for L.A.’s first Harvest Crusade!

AND MOST OF ALL - - THANK YOU JESUS, for the 5,934 who filled the field of Dodger Stadium, to make a public profession of your faith in Christ - - and to the many others that prayed to receive Christ as they stood in the aisles. (They couldn’t make it down to the field to sign a decision card, because the field was closed by the Fire Marshals, due to the crowds.)

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY, FOR THE GREAT THINGS HE DID IN L.A.’s HARVEST CRUSADE!

Thanks, Greg for allowing God to use you!

Harvest Orange County Thank You

HARVEST Orange County is in the history books, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better than it has been in past years, along comes HARVEST 2011.

More than 115,000 people attended the Crusade, with a packed house on Sunday night, and people standing around the railings.

Plus another 250,000 watched live on the internet, and that number will only grow as people view the archive coverage.

  • Stadium Decisions: 11,905
  • Online Decisions: 376
  • Total Decisions: 12,281

Greg Laurie’s special guest interview on Friday night was young Bethany Hamilton, who tragically lost her left arm to a shark while surfing. Soul Surfer, the movie about her tragic accident is a must see.

I was especially interested to see and hear Greg’s Sunday night guest, ninety-four year old Louis Zamperini. Long distance runner in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, his final lap of 56 seconds caught the attention of Adolf Hitler, who insisted on shaking his hand. Tortured in a World War 2 Japanese prison camp, Louie returned to the States a bitter man. His wife took him to the 1949 Los Angeles Billy Graham Crusade, where I was a counselor, at 15-years-old-age.

Another special HARVEST moment was when 84-year-old Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of the Calvary Chapel movement was introduced. The 45,000 people in the stadium stood in unison, clapping and cheering to honor of this great warrior of the faith.

However, the highlight of each night was when Greg Laurie stepped to the podium to proclaim the amazing love and grace of our Almighty God in providing salvation through His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ - - followed by the seemingly endless streams of hungry, hurting souls who walked down to the field to make a public profession of their faith in Jesus! This glorious sight is repeated year after year, but it never gets old!

Thank you Lord, for speaking to thousands of hurting souls as Pastor Greg lifted up Jesus each night! And thank you Greg, for your commitment to the special calling God has given to you!

And thanks to your great HARVEST team for their countless hours of work to help make every Crusade such a great a success!

Greg, I don’t know how to thank you for partnering with the Mission to conduct a BOXES OF HOPE Food Drive for homeless, hungry families in Southern California. I am overwhelmed by your generosity, and deeply grateful for your partnership.

And to all of the friends and partners of Harvest that brought food for hungry, hurting children and families on Skid Row, be assured that we will also share God’s Word to meet the deepest needs of their hearts. THANK YOU!

I know that all the staff, friends and partners of Fred Jordan Mission join me in praying for God’s continued blessing on Pastor Greg and his team, as they lift up Jesus to a hurting world.

Now, onward to Saturday, September 10 - - HARVEST L.A. at Dodger Stadium!

Thanks again, Greg! Aunt Willie
