Dear Friend and Partner,
I have learned many things in more than 60 years on Skid Row. One of them is the necessity of living and working in constant prayer......for when you live and work in the midst of such enormous human misery, you learn that only when you rely on God’s power and His mercy, can you ever bring relief to the hungry and hurting.
Prayer is absolutely essential in everything we do, not only here on Skid Row, but also in our own personal lives, as I’m sure you’ll agree.
When the Lord took my dear husband, Fred, and I realized I could no longer lean on his strong faith and wisdom. I recognized more than ever before the necessity of constant prayer — for God’s wisdom, His strength and His power — not only for me, personally, but also for the ministries of Fred Jordan Mission.
I share these thoughts with you for one reason — to ask if I may have the honor of praying for you at the beginning of this New Year. Thursday, January 26 is the day I have set aside to pray for you — your needs, your heartaches, and the concerns that are dear to your heart.
Friend, let me assure you that our loving God is concerned about the deepest longings of our hearts. He is ready to pour out love and mercy when there's been only hardship and pain... to bring healing where there was illness... to relieve financial burdens... to bring families back together... to bring blessings into our lives.
Dear friend, I also believe that our gracious Lord wants to unlock the resources of heaven in your life, and in the lives of those you love....And that’s the reason for this letter.
First, will you let me pray for you, and for all those things that are dear to you? And, second, will you pray for me, for my family and my staff — for strength, wisdom, and God’s direction and guidance for Fred Jordan Mission?
