They were so poor they didn’t even have money to bury their baby boy who had died.

The Marcus family moved to the city of angels hoping to get a fresh start, but their dream soon turned into a nightmare.

Robert and his expectant wife, Claudia along with her mother, Sylvia had only been in town a few days when everything was stolen.  To make matters worse, Robert and Claudia are mentally slow and Sylvia is old. Their employment opportunities were severely limited, and they ended up living on the street. They had little food and only the clothes on their backs. Then, to add to their already shattered lives, Claudia’s newborn baby died, and they were so destitute, they couldn’t afford to bury their baby.

We found a company that cut their burial costs, and we held the baby’s memorial service in the Mission’s chapel. We fed and clothed the family, helped them find a place to live and helped them furnish their tiny apartment with furniture donated to the Mission. Through our continuing help the family has been able to get back on their feet. Claudia told us over and over, “Without the Mission, we’d have no one in this world.”

And I say to you, friend, without your help, we’d have no one in this world. Without you, we could never share the love of Jesus with families like Robert and Claudia in the death of their newborn baby. YOUR help made the difference.
