:: General Stonewall Jackson & Thanksgiving ::
General “Stonewall” Jackson learned to pray with thanksgiving. Stay with us, I’ll share his words.
“Stonewall” Jackson said, “I have so fixed the habit of prayer in my mind that I never raise a glass of water to my lips without asking God’s blessing, never send a letter without putting a word of prayer under the seal, never change my classes in a lecture room without a minutes petition for the cadets who go out and for those who come in.”
What a powerful statement. I often wonder if I’m grateful enough, then I talk with the mothers and families here at Fred Jordan Mission, and I realize anew how much I truly have to be thankful for. These families never have enough food, and look to the Mission, and people like you, to provide it.
Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, and Fred Jordan Mission is preparing our annual Thanksgiving Feast for the Poor. We’ll be cooking a traditional roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings, served with the love of Jesus Christ.
