:: Smallest/Greatest ::

In God’s economy the smallest things are often the greatest.

In the kingdom of God, things often operate opposite to this earthly world. Jesus illustrated this in a simple parable, when He said; God’s way is like “a mustard seed that a farmer plants in his field. It is quite small as seeds go, yet when it goes; it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree.” His point is this… God takes the least and makes it the best.

At the Fred Jordan Mission on Skid Row, we operate by this principle. Most of those we serve are looked upon by our society as “the least”. Yet God has called us to serve them.

Matthew reads, “When He comes, blazing in beauty and all His angels with Him, the son of Man will take His place on His glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged before Him. Then the King will say to those on His right, Enter, you who are blessed by my father. And here’s why: I was hungry and you fed me, I w as thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me. I’m telling you the solemn truth. Whenever you did one of these things to one of the least of these, someone overlooked or ignored, that was me- you did it to me.”

Remember, God values “the least.” And in His hands, they become the best.
