home news/events press take 3 - inspiring devotionals the titanic
:: The Titanic ::

On the night of April 15th, 1912, the Titanic, as we all know, hit an iceberg and sank, taking to its watery grave more than 1500 souls.
Eighty years later, a magazine ad cited the disaster and asked its reader this question: “If you’d been on the Titanic when it was sinking, what would you have done? Is it possible that you may have thought things were really okay and therefore decided to rearrange the deck chairs?”
At first we say to ourselves, “That’s a silly question.” But then we get to the point the ad is making. Our world is facing disasters in so many ways… and, it seems that some of us are in danger of “rearranging the deck chairs on our own Titanic?”
The ad invites us to ask, are we so caught up in our own little world that we’re forgetting about the larger world? Are we so concerned about our own existence that we forget that we were placed on this planet for a high purpose, God’s purpose?
He loved the world so much that He sent His only Son to provide salvation for us all. How can we do less than go into the world to share this glorious good news?
This is what we do every day on the streets at Fred Jordan Missions. Will you help us share God’s love by feeding hungry souls and nourishing hungry bodies? Don’t keep re-arranging deck chairs when you can make an eternal difference.
