:: Mask (Self-Acceptance) ::

It’s one of the most revealing verses in the Bible…as God says, “People look at the outward appearance, but I look at the heart.” In a world where “outward” is often more important than “inward,” this is something worth discussing…
The movie Mask, was based on the true story of sixteen-year-old Rocky Dennis. A terrible disease made the bones of his face grow larger than they should, and Rocky’s face was left horribly distorted and malformed.
Amazingly, the boy never pitied himself or gave way to anger and despair. Instead, he accepted his appearance as it was. One day Rocky and some friends were at an amusement park. They went into a house of mirrors and suddenly Rocky saw something startling.
One mirror distorted his misshapen face in a way that made it appear normal. In that mirror Rocky was strikingly handsome. For the first time, Rocky’s friends saw him as he really was: a beautiful person—which, indeed, he was.
Friend, God looks at your heart. He sees the real you, and he loves you just as you are.
