Thanksgiving Day on Skid Row dawned with beautiful, sunny skies, in spite of forecasts predicting rain. The perfect weather warmed our homeless guests as they waited in long lines to come into the banquet area, and kept them warm as they sat at our tables for the feast.
I prayed for YOU on Thanksgiving Day, as I saw all of our hungry families and individuals being fed, thanks to YOUR generous offering.
Thank you, dear friends, for helping to make an eternal difference in hearts and lives here on Skid Row.
Before Thanksgiving dinner was served to our hungry guests, we shared God’s Word for hungry hearts. Great music by worship bands from Calvary Chapel Montebello and CORE Church, L.A.; encouraging words from Leah O’Brien Amico, 3-Time Olympic Gold Medalist; Crystal Cathedral Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman; Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and timely messages from CORE Church Pastor Steve Wilburn and Jarrod Davidoff from South Africa.
My late husband, Fred Jordan, felt that our homeless guests deserved the best, since they always seem to get only the least, so I am thankful to these friends and to all our volunteers who gave their time and holiday to bless some of God’s most needy children.
Thank you, dear friends, for helping to make an eternal difference in hearts and lives here on Skid Row. I count on your prayers and your support to help us give God’s Word, and good food to needy people. Please pray that many will come to know our Savior in a personal way.
Christmas is just days away, so please pray for the thousands who will come “home” to the Mission for the holidays. And be assured of my prayers for you and those dear to your heart at this blessed, holy season. May you be strengthened by His Word and blessed by His love this Christmas.
Your Grateful Servant,
Willie L. Jordan (Mrs. Fred Jordan)
