:: Street Stories ::

Every few weeks Fred Jordan Missions will share with you new “Street Stories” of a child, a mother or a family—individuals and others who now enjoy a better life because of the love and generosity of a friend such as you.

"A few years back, I hit rock bottom...I started attending nightly meetings at the Fred Jordan Mission...One of the Mission employees saw how important my new commitment to Christ and right living was, and he took the steps to help me get back on track..."
Read Ezekiel's story

"I have two jobs, I don’t use drugs or alcohol, and I feel I’m a responsible person. I love my children and want them to have a life that pleases God.  But I just can’t make it financially, try as I might..."
"I first started coming to the Mission about a year ago. Everything in my life seemed like it was in shambles. I didn’t have permanent housing, I didn’t have much money or food and I had a young daughter to take care of. I didn’t know how I was going to cope..."  Read Elizabeth's story

"[One of my best friends] had been shot and killed while I was up at Camp. That really scared me. I knew that I probably would’ve been with him if I hadn’t been at Camp. I could have been shot, too. In a way, being at Camp and with the Mission saved my life...”
Read Joe's story

"I enrolled in a three year stenography program...When my father lost his job I was very scared, because my program requires me to buy my own stenograph machine. They cost around $5,000! I talked to the Mission and they helped me get a grant to buy a brand new stenograph machine...."

"I’ve been coming to the after-school programs for as long as I can remember. Here I learned good study habits and the importance of getting a good education. I think it’s paying off, because just the other day I was accepted to USC on a 97% scholarship..."
"We didn’t know what we were going to do. Soon, we had used up our last little bit of savings, and I knew I had to help. I dropped out of my junior year of high school and got a full-time job....[But] the Mission helped ease my burden..."

"My name is Donald.  I live at the Fred Jordan Mission and I'm part of the in-house men's program. I've had a hard life and endured some tough situations, but with the help of Christ and the people at the Mission, I'm really getting back on track..."
